My
1999 Freightliner FL-70 is a converted Hot-Shot that originally had a
22' van body. Truck is powered by a 350 HP CAT 3126B and Spicer
7-speed manual transmission. It has air brakes, Hendrickson air
suspension with dump valve, air ride seats, air ride hitch built by
Kelderman Mfg. in Iowa, 2-75 gal. fuel tanks and an 8 1/2' Pioneer
Flatbed. This truck replaced a 1991 Isuzu EVR.
I
have been working on the truck conversions for about a year.
I've added electric door locks with remote, a 1500 watt
inverter/converter, completely rewired the sleeper electrical system,
computer system for GPS and general computer uses, and other
electrical upgrades. I've had the flat bed dropped 2 inches,
replaced the flatbed tail plate, remounted/lowered the air-ride hitch
and added a dump valve, added a 150 cubic foot storage box behind the
sleeper and changed tires to low profile Goodyear RV tires.
Over the next year I will be
upgrading the sleeper cabinetry, adding side windows to the sleeper,
modifying the lower bunk into a convertible bed/table, adding cabinets
to the back wall where I removed the upper bunk and adding a basement
unit heater/AC unit. I will be adding a backup camera with a touch
screen monitor that I will also tie into the computer. And will be
spraying the flatbed with a bed liner.
I pull a 2003 Holiday Rambler Presidential 36' mid-kitchen trailer
with 4 slide-outs. The trailer has a GVW of 17,000# for a
predicted GCVW of just under 40,000#.
